Introducing FREY's AW25-26 Collection: Irregular Stripe

Introducing FREY's AW25-26 Collection: Irregular Stripe

FREY’s AW25.26 collection, Irregular Stripe, explores the intersection of function and emotional design. At its core, this collection is about how clothing feels — not just on the body, but in the rhythm of everyday life. It's about presence without pressure, a design that supports rather than demands. Thoughtful, instinctive, and quietly radical.

The name Irregular Stripe comes from the idea of rejecting standardisation — of stepping away from rigid systems, uniformity, and perfection. Instead, this collection embraces the asymmetry, variation, and nuance that exist in real life. It reflects a belief that true design is born from instinct, imperfection, and personal expression.

Two artists guided the development of this collection: I.M. Pei and Andreas Gursky.

I.M. Pei’s architecture reflects a balance between modernist precision and human warmth. His work synthesised structure, space, and light, always in harmony with its surroundings. His belief in design as both functional and deeply contextual resonates with my process at FREY. With Irregular Stripe, I was interested in creating garments that elevate everyday experiences — not through aesthetic excess, but through purposeful form and comfort-driven silhouettes,” says FREY Head of Design, Yuli Tlili.

This collection follows intuitive design. Yuli designs through instinct, not through trends. Each piece is designed to be worn with ease — to rest comfortably with the body, rather than overwhelm it. It’s clothing for personal use, for feeling, for living.

The colour palette draws from Gursky’s visual world — petrol blue, industrial beige, khaki, grey, and brown. These tones echo the complexity of urban life, yet offer visual calm. There’s a sense of order within chaos — a reflection of the collection’s balance between softness and structure.

Although meant for winter, the collection defies expectations by using ultra-lightweight fabrics that provide warmth without adding bulk. It combines traditional tailoring techniques with modern textures and desired aesthetics, incorporating relaxed silhouettes from menswear that are softened by contemporary feminine details. The result is a layered, abstract, flowing wardrobe.

Irregular Stripe is built on modular design principles: a focused set of items, designed to be worn across seasons, styled in playful and contrasting ways. Pieces are not fixed in time or trend — they shift with context, colour, and the wearer’s imagination.

This is a collection shaped by design values — clarity, movement, materiality, and human experience. A quiet protest against the uniform,” says Yuli.
